You help shape Child Care in Oregon!

Ensure families have equal access to child care and help state and national leaders understand child care by participating in the 2026 Market Price & Supply Study!

What Is the Market Price & Supply Study (MPSS)?

The Oregon Market Price & Supply Study (MPSS) collects  information about child care prices and availability in Oregon.

As part of your participation in this study you will be asked to confirm:

  • Your program’s rates (prices)
  • Number of children your program cares for (capacity)
  • Diversity and care opportunities

Your pricing information is not included in your referral profile and will not be shared with families as part of the referral process. Your program information can support child care referrals through Find Child Care Oregon, 211info, and statewide reporting.

The Oregon Market Price & Supply Study (MPSS) collects information about child care prices and availability in Oregon. This Study is for all child care providers in Oregon. During this study you will be asked to share information about your child care program.

The MPSS data collection period happens between October 1st and December 31st every two years. You have until December 31st, 2026 to complete the study and share valuable information about child care prices and availability in Oregon.

There are 3 different ways in which you can participate in the MPSSS. You only need to complete ONE of the following:

  • You can update your program through the FCCO provider portal. An email will be sent from FCCO to prompt you to log in and verify or update your program information.
  • You can share your program information by completing the survey for the MPS Study.
  • You can contact you regional CCR&R to learn about other ways to participate.

You will need to verify or update you program’s prices and fees, number of children your program cares for, scheduling details, and diversity opportunities.

The MPSS is used to inform Oregonians about the availability and affordability of child care throughout Oregon. This information will be used by state leaders to inform policy making such as setting the maximum subsidy rates.

Additionally, the study can be used by providers to compare their prices to other programs in their area and identify child care deserts.

To complete the MPSS, you will need to share the price your program charges families for care. Prices are reported for each age group: Infants, Toddlers, Preschool, and School Age. These can be reported as: hourly, daily, weekly, and/or monthly rates.

If your program charges more than one rate for an age group the highest rate is what you need to share for the MPSS.

Yes, you will need to report any fees that parents are required to pay for their children in your program. In the FCCO Provider Portal you can enter the amount you charge and how often parents are expected to pay the fee.

No, even if you choose to be open for referrals through FCCO your pricing information is not included in your referral profile and will not be shared with families as part of the referral process.

The Market Price and Supply Study Report will be shared without identifying information. This process allows us to analyze the price of child care throughout the state.

Desired capacity is the total amount of children you would like to have in your program at one time. You will be asked for your total desired capacity and your desired capacity by age group.

Your program’s desired capacity must not exceed your licensed capacity.

Your program’s desired capacity is not the total number of children enrolled in your program.

You will be asked to provide your program’s operation hours and days, your program’s yearly schedule, and whether you provide full time care or part time care.

To be considered full time care a child must be able to attend the program for 30 hours or more a week.

If a child can only attend less than 30 hours a week a program is considered part time care.
